Quick Question re Voda Voip on FibreX

Hi, just checking, the Ultra Hub (or what ever they call it) will work ok (just for the VOIP service) nat'd behind another router or is it configured such that it will have fail.

Just that I have a situation where a client has for various reasons (mainly lack of UFB at this time and >1km from cabinet) has decided at the last minute to go with FibreX, which is all good from my perspective, but for other reasons we will be using a 3rd party router and I was just checking what the go it re the VOIP service.

I guess the other matter is, has anyone managed to get 3rd party phones working with Voda's VOIP solution.

Cheers Cyril

Vodafone International Speeds - Fibre X

Just did some speedtest to various sites around LA from my 200/20 cable (Fibre X) connection and was getting around 195/17 on average.

First time I have ever seen international speeds anything like that.

Obviously the ping each time was about 150 ish but that is to be expected.

Moto Z Droid - cannot roam on data on Vodafone AU

I have a Verizon branded Moto Z Droid which works fine on Vodafone NZ. Signed up for a roaming plan and upon arrival selected Vodafone AU. Voice and SMS is fine but can't roam on data.

Checked the APN and there was none for Vodafone AU so tried to manually add one based on this

Name

VF WEB

APN

live.vodafone.com

MCC

505

MNC

03

APN Type

default

But as soon as I choose Add the APN disappears.

Then reset the APN settings and now I have none when I choose APN and only get the message

access point name settings are not available for this user

Interestingly if I add the APN and leave the defaults for MCC at 530 and MNC at 01 I can save it but of course since it's not correct I can't get data.

If I then update the MCC and MNC to the right values and save, the APN disappears?I wonder if Verizon has customized their Android version to stop users from roaming unless they change some setting on the phone? Doesn't seem likely but one can never tell.

I just hope when I get home I can add back the VF NZ APN but then I won't be roaming.

MyFlex Prepay prices up?

As I have a business phone, I dont use my personal phone much, so an $11 (250/50/250) plan was quite useful

I see the prices have all gone up. however the message in the app states "To give you more value , weve changed a few plan options..."

Im trying to work out where the value is, as now I can get a 250/50/50 plan for $13 (200 less texts) instead of $11 For reference, which plans have more value?

Do Vodafone usually use ONT port 2 for UFB?

Just switched to Vodafone UFB from Bigpipe, had my router connected to LAN port 1 on the ONT. Wasn't getting anything for 10 mins after it was meant to be live, so tried both a router and ONT restart but still nothing. Didn't know what else to try so plugged the cable into LAN 2 instead, just to see if there was any difference. Then boom, internet light on the router goes solid green and I'm getting connection on my computer again. Is this normal for Vodafone to do? Should I be worried I have two connections live at the moment or anything? I can't seem to get anything through LAN 1 still though.

Time to disconnect landline

$

Last month I upgraded my VDSL connection to fibre and at the time of ordering the fibre I advised the Vodafone person that I didn't want to keep my landline once I'd switched to fibre. The upgrade took place on 24th July and I expected the landline to stop working shortly after. But it kept on working, and so I thought it would be cut off at the end of July / beginning of August. But here we are on the 6th of August and the landline is still working.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it should take to disconnect the landline? I don't really care so long as I'm no longer being charged for it.

SO UNRELIABLE Vodafone data services

I have a vodem that is on a tablet share plan. It works when it feels like it, which is not that often. I thought there must be something wrong with it so I took the sim out and put it into a phone and started tethering off the phone. But this is not that reliable either. After a few days of tethering that worked, last evening nothing could connect except directly. At this point is looked very much like Vodafone was deliberately blocking tethering and vodems, which makes no real sense with the plan I am on (Red Essentials) as there are no restrictions like that on this plan and I have 6 GB of data.

After I emailed Vodafone, tethering started working again but has now stopped. Once again direct connection (i.e surfing the net one the phone itself) is still functional.

It looks very much like Vodafone just has some reason that from time to time they will just go around blocking tethering or vodems for no obvious reason and without prior warning, the result being a very unreliable data service.

Be aware if you get offered lots of data on your plan (and the tablet share options) as far as Vodafone is concerned they do not want you hooking up any other device via tethering or a USB vodem even wth the data cap. I can understand a restriction on the unlimited plans, but not on my plan which has a data cap and high costs for additional data (I used to exceed the limit quite regularly but this month will be the first time in forever that I am not paying excess data charges)

Twitch performance on VF

Having gone through the normal reboots etc on my end, figured i'd see if anyone else has noticed this yet..

Vodafone seems to be struggling heavily with twitch streams over about 5-6mbit.

Been seeing this for about a week or so now.

Last week had both connections to myself, so was able to wack complete isolation out and still seemed a bit off.

Spark connection along side (via the same router) preforms perfectly.

Looks like the sydney outgress server isn't picking up traffic again, seeing sjc and lax.

Vodafone Sure Signal V3 .. Unable to connect ( Spark Broadband Customer

Hi all

I have just bought a Vodafone Sure Signal V3 unit. I have installed it on my Netgear modem router as instructed and it has been assigned an IP address. I have opened ports 8 , 50 , 123 , 500 & 4500 on my Netgear router. The Sure Signal won't connect at all no matter how many times i restart it even though these ports are open to any WAN IP.

The power light is on solid RED and the light below ( a globe type icon ) is WHITE and pulsing continuously. No other lights are lit.

I am a Spark Broadband customer and have been assured by Vodafone that the SS works with Spark. Are there any Spark broadband users here that have managed to get it working ? If so, any tips ?

Are there any other DNS / IP settings I need to make so it connects ?

Any advice greatly appreciated in advance.

Cheers

Matt

Unable to access mobile internet

After switching to prepaid from a postpaid plan and configuring my plan through the my vodefone application, I had trouble accessing the internet via cellular data.

After calling up, restarting phone several times and manually confirming apn settings, the my vodafone app started to work via cellular data.

Unfortunately normal web browsing doesn't work as visiting https websites dont work and visiting any http urls end up redirecting me to http://www.vodafone.co.nz/myvodafone/ng/registration/, shown in the attached image.

The link to the play store to download the my vodafone application which i already have installed doesn't work as it is https.

Is there anything that can be done on my end to fix it as Ive already talked to several customer service reps in this process and they seemed to have no idea what could cause this, or whether the issue was on my end or vodafones.

Vodafone have a new modem/wireless router for ADSL VDSL cable and fibre, the Vodafone Ultra Home Hub.

From the label on the bottom of the modem in a Vodafone help video looks like it's made by Technicolor, but otherwise don't know anything about it. Any thoughts?j

Upgrading speed on existing service with Vodafone TV (old type)

$

My present service is as follows: Fibre 200 (connected in mid-2015 so possibly an older product with a different marketing name), old Vodafone TV with Sky, voice service

I want to upgrade the speed to FibreMax and keep the rest. Inquiries to Vodafone claim that I can't do this and keep the old Vodafone TV box, it must be replaced by a new one. The reason given is because the billing system associated with FibreMax is different to the current system being used with Fibre200 and only physical Sky or the new Vodafone TV is loaded into the FibreMax system as options.

Am I right to think that this smells a bit off? To me this looks like an attempt to move me to a new product that I don't want just to get one thing that I do. TV over IP is great but the new Vodafone TV is a completely different product.

Incidentally, I rarely use the record function on the existing Vodafone TV box but appreciate the freedom I have with regards to what I record and how long I keep it.

Other than being tied to the Vodafone router for voice service I have had virtually nil issues with the overall service.

Fax number move

Hi

One of our offices have moved we wanted to keep the same fax number but were advised we couldn't, assuming its on a different exchange?

So I asked Digital Mobile if we could keep the old number and get it forwarded to the new fax number but were advised that this couldn't be done and they could only forward faxes to a 3rd party fax service.

Is this really the case that what I asked cant be done?

Vodafone mobile coverage / signal strength Wellington

$

I just had my workplace switch from Spark to Vodafone mobile. Previously at home (inner Wellington suburbs) and work (Wellington inner city close to parliament) I consistently got 4-5 bars on my Huawei P9 just about wherever I went in the country, home, work, etc. With Vodafone I get 1-2 bars at work and at home, occasionally rising to 3-4 bars, dropping to zero bars in some parts of my house.

I checked out the Vodafone Coverage Map but when I hit the buttons for 3G/4G nothing changed on the map.

Is this pretty standard? I expected the second biggest telco in NZ to have good coverage of these well populated locations. Work would give me a Sure Signal but in central Wellington that seems ridiculous, plus I don't want more devices running in the house if I can avoid it.

Just received this email from our ISP Farmside. (we are RBI subscribers)

"The broadband site in your area has just been upgraded, we've done all the hard work and now the last step is up to you. To make the most of your internet and ensure you have a stable connection, you'll need to update your modem but don't worry, it's easy as!"

Wondering if anyone knows what this is about and might we see improved stability or performance.

How to use Vodafone HG659 in bridge mode for Fibre broadband?

$

Hi

First post here. I hope someone could help me out.

I've just got a Fibre connection through Vodafone (900MBps/450MBps).All is well if I use the provided HG659 router. We already have a Draytek Vigor 2960 and would like to use this as our router instead of the HG659.When I configure the WAN interface on the Draytek for the Vodafone fibe (DHCP, VLAN 10) I only get a pathetic 2Mbps download on speedtest.netThis same router has been previously used with a 2talk fibre connection (100Mbps/100Mbps) and was working fine.

To troubleshoot a bit further I would like to use the provided HG659 as a bridge and connect it to the WAN interface of the Draytek 2960.

I managed to login as admin into the HG659 and set the Ethernet WAN connection to bridge mode, leaving VLAN 10 and DHCP and the WAN interface.I also disabled DHCP on the LAN interfaces, the firewall, wifi and UPNP.I set the HG659 LAN interface with a static ip 192.168.200.200Now I'm not sure how to configure the Draytek's WAN interface.

I tried to configure the WAN interface with an IP in the same subnet as the HG659 (like 192.168.200.201) and use the HG659 IP as the default gateway.I tried with VLAN set to 10 and VLAN disabled.I also tried to configure the Draytek WAN interface with DHCP thinking that DHCP settings from Vodafone would make their way through the bridge.

To make a long story short, none of my attempts resulted in a working bridged internet connection. What am I doing wrong? Is it possible that only a specific LAN interface can be used as a bridge? All my tests were done with LAN1 from HG659 connected to Draytek WAN.The Vodafone instructions on configuring bridge mode stop at the HG659, they don't tell you the settings on the third-party router.Spark instruction for bridging the HG659 says to disable VLAN on the third-party router but they use PPPoE and not WAN DHCP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
