Hey guys, so I recently upgraded my broadband speed from Vodafone fibre 200/20 to fibre Max. Speedtest shows I'm getting 930mbps down and 472 up, However my download speed on steam and origin has decreased. When I was on my 200mbps down fibre plan, my steam download speed would stay at a constant 24MB/s. Now on Fibre Max steam and origin reaches a peak download speed of 8.5MB/s. I have checked all my steam and origin settings but nothing seems to work. And my steam folder is set to download to my SSD.edit - I am currently using Vodafone's new ultra hub router . Thanks for your help :)

Vodafone mobile in Australia
I asked this in the Vodafone forum on their website but no-one has answeredWife and I are off to Sydney at the end of the month - we're on a cruise from Sydney to great barrier reef and back over 12 nightsAnyway we both have Vodafone prepay mobiles and will be taking our phones with usWe don't plan to txt or phone anyone from NZ while on holiday, but if someone phones us or txt's us and we want to reply, I assume we will be charged roaming rates?Wife went to a Vodafone store in the weekend and they recommended she buy a new sim card or cheap phone in Aussie…. I would have thought it we keep our phones topped up with more $ than we need we should be ok?Also the Vodafone person said if we take our phones to Australia we need to put them on airplane / flight mode otherwise they will automatically connect to Vodafone Australia and we'll get charged roaming rates if our phone is switched on normally - does anyone know if this is correct?Any help would be great

Good result From Vodafone
There's always plenty of complaints for bad service (including from me) so here's something positive. We're moving in with family while we wait for a new build and we have a few weeks left on a 12 month contract. I called Vodafone and was put through to a "cancellation specialist" who very quickly and efficiently cancelled our plan with no termination fee, then sorted out a better plan at a good price for our new address. So well done Vodafone.

Vodafone txt only plan(s)
I have not had much joy from the customer services team at VF while trying to confirm if there is some kind of text only plan available from vodafone. Their standard response was to go into a store and ask.Don't require voice or data services at all JUST text. Under prepay, the cheapest I can seem to confirm is the normal $13 plan that still a small allocation of voice/data.2D/WH have plans/packs at $4-$9Spark seems to have plans available around $8Does VF have any similar kind of plan (either prepay or on account)CheersLee

Broadband MTU of 1462 on business UFB connection?
Having a weird issue onsite where the MTU on a Vodafone business UFB connection in Wellington only supports an MTU of 1462.On Windows I can doping 8.8.8.8 -l 1420 -fAnd get a response but if I have a ping size of 1421 which would give a total packet size of 1463 then I don't get a response. Don't have this issue on Vodafone mobile and seems to only be an issue on fixed broadband.Anyone else having this issue?

Voda Sure Signal to block cell service?
Anyone thought of using Sure Signal to block cell ph usage in your house? IE keep the teenagers off their phones! When in the house the phones all jump on the femtocell as the main cell signal is weak, is there a way to then block the sure signal at the router so it goes no where?

Help wanted with old Vodafone TV connection.
This is a bit of a novel of a post, but wanted to include everything I know in the hope someone knows something about this, because I sure don't.My inlaws live in Wainuiomata, Wellington. They have a cable TV service provided by Vodafone. For some time now they have been having trouble with it. They called Vodafone, who sent someone out, but the problem persists, and the tech eventually blamed their TV. I went over and had a look today. I couldn't get it working, but I don't think it's the TV (I'm happy to be proven wrong though, if it can solve the problem). It's hard getting anything from the inlaws as he is pretty much deaf so can't hear anything I say properly, and is Dutch and doesn't speak very good English, and doesn't know much about technology. She is not very bright, and is even more technologically challenged - she struggles to use anything more complicated than a toaster.I believe their original TV/phone package was supplied by Saturn, and when that ceased to be a thing I think it went to TelstraClear, and then to Vodafone. There's a concrete power/telephone pole outside the house that has some large grey plastic sleeve running up it with Saturn written on it. This sleeve is not attached very well and the cable that should be running in it from the ground to the top of the pole is hanging out towards the top. There's an overhead cable running from the top of the pole to the gable on the nearest corner of the house. This cable then runs along inside the guttering to a downpipe. It runs down the outside of the downpipe, attached with cable ties, and into the bottom of a grey plastic box with Saturn printed on the outide.Inside the garage there's an RF/coax/antenna looking cable that comes through the wall from the back of the grey box, runs along/up the wall, through the floor, into the living room behind the TV. Here things get a little untidy. The RF cable goes into a two-way splitter. One of the two RF cables on the output side of the splitter goes into an old Motorola Surfboard modem, and the other RF output cable goes directly into the back of the Vodefone TV decoder. Also coming out of the modem is an RJ45 plug-looking ethernet cable that is connected to the back of the decoder, similar to my Sky decoder which I think allows remote booking/recording of programmes. The decoder is not the little Apple TV-looking box that I see on Vodefone NZ's website now. It's a bigger black box, about the size of my MySky decoder, with nothing on the front but a light in the middle that shows red (off) or blue (on) and a round set of menu/arrow/enter buttons on the left - no other buttons/words, etc. I could see. The decoder is connected to the TV by HDMI cable. Also connected to to the TV is a bluray player (HDMI) and a VCR (RCA) - neither of which I think they actually use, but don't want to get rid of. Several days ago, it stopped working. The only image on screen is a static picture that looks like two circles/spheres. The one on the left has some lines/shapes on the surface and the one on the right looks clear, but with a shadow/silhouette that looks like someone holding a sword. You can hear the audio of whatever channel they select, but it keeps cutting out (e.g. plays for about 30 seconds then stops for about 10 seconds) but all you see on the screen is the still picture of the two big balls. They called Vodafone, who asked them to do a lot of stuff, but with him being deaf and not good with English, her not knowing which button on the remote is "On", and the customer service rep probably being in the Philippines, that didn't help. Vodafone sent a technician, he fussed about, told them the decoder was overheating because it had something on top of it, so gave them a new decoder and stood it up on its side next to the cabinet the TV sits on.They tell me it worked "for a while" (a few hours?) with the new decoder, but do seem a bit confused about that. But it went back to the same problem, and the tech is blaming the TV, saying there is a problem with it.I rebooted the modem, restarted the decoder, tried switching the HDMI cables between the decoder and the bluray player, and the TV inputs the HDMI cables were plugged into. Whichever combination of HDMI cable and TV input I use, the bluray player works perfectly but the decoder displays the same static image. They also say they saw a Downers tech up a ladder working on a power/phone pole across the street a few days ago. They didn't see anyone working up their pole "but we had been out earlier." I'm going to try phoning Vodafone tomorrow, but as I'm not the account holder, and won't be at their house when I call, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to resolve much.Does any of this mean anything to anyone? I wonder if there's a problem with the signal they're getting from the cable? Could there be a loose or faulty connection, or something disturbed by a Downers guy up a pole? But where does the static image come from? And why is there sound (though cutting out) and no video?

Feeling silly
I'm on Vodafone prepay and for the last few years I've had Vodafone offer me add-ons that it calls "NZMBs". The offer is usually worded something like "Need more data? Reply YES to get 300MB of NZMBs for $0.50, lasts for 7 days".I've always ignored these because I've thought that "NZMBs" meant it would only apply to traffic that terminated in NZ (eg NZ hosted websites, etc). I remember years ago, before we had unlimited broadband, some ISPs would give you unlimited traffic to NZ hosted sites and they wouldn't count that traffic towards your monthly GB limit; I thought that Vodafones "NZMBs" deals were like this. I play a few mobile games, such as Pokemon Go, and sometimes the extra data would be handy if it's near the end of the month and I'm running low, but I thought the data wouldn't apply to my games since they'll be using overseas servers.Last week I received another one of these offers, but this time it said "Need more data? Of course you do! Reply YES to get 310MB of data for only $0.75! Offer ends Thursday and lasts 7 days. Call 321 for info." Since no mention was made of "NZMBs" I thought "Great! I can use this data for playing my games!" and so bought the offer. I got a reply back saying "Great, you've now got NZMBs to use in NZ anytime". "Oh no!" I thought, "It is NZMBs after all!" Then I read it a bit closer and saw the bit that says "to use in NZ anytime". "Ah!" I thought, "Maybe 'NZMBs' doesn't refer to traffic that terminates in NZ like I've always thought, maybe it just means the data must be used in NZ as opposed to being used while roaming overseas".Am I correct in my assumption? Have I been wrong all these years?

Moved FibreX 200
Moved to FibreX 200 and 2 months gone. Not really happy, yes, the speed as ads 200/20But1. Drops connection 2-3 times a day for 5-10mins, before with Motorola cable modem, old plan 100/10, it will happened once in 6 months +/-, its all happening during day hours, not much affect me.2. The big complain, it can't handle a connection to the office PC, how it works for me:home PC Windows 7/10 ->Windows build-in VPN ->Windows Remote Desktop Connection (through IP address)->office PC Windows 10Handle 4-6 mins and drops, impossible to work, with the old plan I can work hours without single drop.3. Vodafone TV box - full of artifacts, we don't watch much, just news at 6pm and its really badBooked technician, will come this week to investigate, and they told me they don't have any problems from their side.Is there anything from my side I can check/do? Any router tuning(I'm using my personal one, instead of Vodafone)? Thanks in advance.

Vodafone PC Protection
So Last week I get a random email form Vodafone saying they have signed me up for Vodafone PC Protection. I have VDSL and phone line with Voda (no fibre in my street till next century)I don't want or need this service and although free for 3 months its $10 per month after so I log into "My Vodafone" and cancel it.Today I get a new email saying I have been signed up again (with a new start date) So I have gone in and canceled .. again.Anyone else seeing this or just me ?Anyone else they are self enrolling may not know how to cancel and be in the hole for $10 per month .. especially the less technically inclined. Vodafone people might know the answer to these questions .. Why do I keep getting signed up to a service I don't want and how are you going to help those that dont realise whats going on.

Vodafone TV and Ultra Hub problems
Hi All;I have two of these fancy new Vodafone TV's and an Ultra hub that Vodafone have provided. After ringing tech support for the Vodafone TV's because usually two or three times a day I get a message on both Vodafone TV's saying "No Internet Connection" and the TV Screens usually go black, or sometimes if I'm really lucky, I get told that I'm not subscribed to that channel, but that is displayed for all TV Channels. One Vodafone TV is ethernet wired and the other uses the wifi extenders on bridge mode, this problem happens to both TVs.Also, there is nothing wrong with the internet itself - as when the TV's can't find the internet, I still get pings to google.com with no losses and still get 197/20 in speed test from an ethernet connection. The only way I have discovered to get the system out of this funk is to unplug everything (both Vodafone TV's, Both Wifi Extenders and the ultra hub - turn on the ultra hub and let it sort itself out. Then plug in the wifi extenders and reconnect them, then finally plug back in the Vodafone TVs). This takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Doing this three times a day is getting little annoying..I was told by tech support that this is what needs to be done to any network and it is normal to need to reset everything this often. Now I'm no Network Administrator, just a humble airline pilot, but don't think that this is what is considered "normal"..Second problem is when I try and set a static DHCP IP address for one device only (trying to figure out if having a static IP for the Vodafone TV's might sort the problem) nothing else on the network can connect to the internet. (Usually server cannot be found messages appearing on everything that is connected to the network except for the Vodafone TV's.Something is clearly not right here. But tech support say the issues I have is a normal function of any network..

Vodafone Ultra Home Hub - new adsl/vdsl/cable/fibre modem/wireless router
Vodafone have a new modem/wireless router for ADSL VDSL cable and fibre, the Vodafone Ultra Home Hub.https://www.vodafone.co.nz/broadband/ultrahub-modem/ From the label on the bottom of the modem in a Vodafone help video looks like it's made by Technicolor, but otherwise don't know anything about it. FiberX Max
Hey GZers!I've just switched to Voda's HFC network and I have to say, the speeds are consistent, even at peak times. I'll setup a cron job to do hourly speedtests for the next few months and report back then. Other than that, I'm pretty happy (and my Uplay and Steam games download twice as fast as they did on Gigabit fiber with Spark).

Some questions about VF Sure Signal units.
Hey all, I currently live in a blackzone (no ADSL or mobile coverage from any provider). However, I decided to make my own RBI relay station. At the top of a hill next to my house I have a modem from an RBI provider running off batteries and the long range wifi to get it to my house. Anyway, at the house, it would be nice to have a mobile signal. And from what I can tell Vodafone Sure Signal should help me. I saw it mentioned somewhere that the modem could "loopback" on the sure signal but the RBI modem is 100m+ away and it has an external antenna so that should not be a problem. Anyway, questionsDo all three versions work with any ISP? Or would I need a version 3 unit etc...Will it work for mobile providers that "use other networks"? Namely 2degrees and possible Warehouse mobile. I presume if it works with 2degrees, then it would work with Warehouse mobile because they use 2degrees. Thanks in advance!
