Vodafone RBI Cell tower question.

Hi I've been reading the information provided on this forum - I'm impressed by the member's knowledge. Can't see an answer to my particular question though...

The family & I live in a remote coastal community. We've never had cellphone reception, our unreliable landline connection, run out in the 80's and spliced and repaired many times, is the extent of our phone service. It regularly goes off in wet weather, leaving us without a phone for a day or more. Our connection to the world is satellite internet.

So work has begun pouring a base for a RBI cellphone tower on a neighbours farm.

They've also run green fibre conduit all the way out to the main road.

We were excited to think wireless broadband might be available soon - and our satellite provider wants us to sign another contract (at $300+ per month).

So I spoke with a vodafone call centre to ask what would be available, got a call back a couple of days later.

They said: 'the tower will provide cellphone service only - no broadband'

The tower shows on RBI maps as 'houhora central' CBDP 64090563

Do they put in RBI towers with no option for a data connection? How does that work?

I must be missing something.. Maybe someone with knowledge of Vodafone's cell service can clue me in.
