Incorrect APN use and inbound NAT issues

Good evening,I've got a bit of an issue. Upon commissioning a telemetry device, that runs off of a port in the 6700 range, an incorrect APN (so I believe) was used. The system was designed for DDNS, however the www.vodafone.net.nz APN was used (I've heard it's bad to use the 'internet' APN). I've got the DDNS server updating with a public IP, however can't get into the device! The device is quite inaccessible physically unfortunately, leaving reconfiguration out of the equation. This might be an obvious question, and I'm pretty sure it's a big fat no, but would vodafone be able to unblock inbound comms to a particular device and particular port using this APN?
