In the past few weeks we have noticed that our landline is not working properly. If someone calls us it is fine. If we call out strange things happen. It makes the noise like the number you have called is engaged, but does actually call the number you have dialled, when the other end answers the call cuts in and out. We don't really need a landline anymore so this didn't bother us. We have the unlimited All DSL Max Unlimited package (Unlimited Standard Broadband and home phone is what it says on our bill). Then we noticed the internet seemed slower. Skype calls are clear on our end, but not on the other end. If I try to upload a video to Whatsapp on my cell it won't work, but when I turn of WiFi and switch to mobile data it works quickly. Streaming tv shows has been slower and we've had to pause episodes and wait for the loading to get ahead before we can watch. We did have a mouse in our ceiling and I'm actually wondering if it's chewed the wiring partially. We only have one outlet so can't test a different area in the house. We don't have the maintenance insurance so I'm hesitant to get Vodafone to send out a technician. Is there anyway to work out if the problem is ours or theirs before calling them out? I'd like to avoid paying more fees than we have to as we are on a budget. I did call Vodafone but they said the only thing I can do is plug in a new cheap phone to check if it's our phone or cords that are broken. On top of this we are considering changing providers to save money. We want to get rid of our landline and are thinking of going with 2Degrees or MyRepublic. I'm new to Geekzone but I'm guessing that's a separate issue and I should ask about that on those respective forums? Would appreciate any advice. My knowledge is limited but I am able to problem solve when given clear instructions. My main barrier is that I don't know a lot of the jargon beyond the very basics. Thanks in advance.
