So can't get Fibre where my parents live until 2019. Since their watching a lot more streaming and using the net more thought I'd upgrade them to VDSL in the mean time. Checked prices around a few places, seems to be pretty much similar -+ $10 so sticking to Vodafone Currently Adsl2+ & Home phone with Vodafone using a Asus Dsl N55U modem. They also have a monitored alarm. Reading through the additional info stuff. http://www.vodafone.co.nz/internet/p...nt=no#top_tab3 Seems they will have to do an install?? What do they actually do? Is there a new separate jack for the modem? Also seeing as they need a new modem I'll probably stick with the isp hg659 as I'd have to buy another modem in a few years when upgrading to fibre again. Is the HG659 good/stable enough to use ? (I've always used non-isp modems as they isp ones were always crap) They're about 1Km from the exchange so adsl 2+ speeds have been ok (I'll try get some current line stats up) There are 2 jackpoints in the house 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs . The termination point is attached to the downstairs one, where a filter is then attached and then the modem. Upstairs the Monitored Alarm is hardwired to the jack and then a filter is attached with the phone plugged in to the phone side. It's worked in this setup for quite sometime absolutely fine with no issue to the alarm company nor the BB, however i'm not sure that if because the Alarm being hardwired prior to the filter has had a affect on the max attainable BB speeds. So if they do have to send a tech should i just get a filter placed between the TP & downstairs jack?
