I am one of the lucky(?) people still on the Smart1 plan introduced when the iPhone 4 was released. I am still getting the 3GB of data, but after a particularly slow week at work, where I had an enormous amount of streaming video (sport mainly) playing in the background, I used pretty much all of the 3GB up with a little over the half the month left.Seeing that the charge is $0.20 per 1MB over the limit, I determined that even with conservative used for the next couple of weeks, I was potentially going to cop an enormous extra charge. (I have had this plan for well over 2 years and never come anywhere near hitting the 3GB)With this in mind I checked on the Vodafone website and saw they had an 'Add-On' for account customers to get an extra 1GB for $20.00. (As opposed to the $20 per 100MB I could end up liable for). However, when I logged in, this Add-On was not a selectable option.Thinking this was strange, I called the help desk and spoke to a lovely lady who determined that I could not buy the extra 1GB as I was on an old iPhone plan and had the maximum data allowed(?). She kindly credited me an extra 100MB, which I will eek out, so I would have to say overall it was not a bad experience.What I am perplexed about is why I could not Add-On the extra GB? I understand that plans have various T's & C's associated with them, but it seems a little restrictive to not allow me to pay for the extra. VF must know what the value of 1GB of data is ($20, apparently), so it is not like I am getting one over on them.Yes they are a business, but they are also a service I want to pay a reasonable rate for. I realise this is a firstworldproblem, but I can't see the logic. Has anyone else had a similar experience and/or received a satisfactory answer. Surely "your plan is old' cannot be the sole answer!J. Corrigan
