It looks like I made a bad decision and that was to Join Vodafone for VDSLI have never had such a painful experience in my life. When you first join your sent the instructions VDSL BroadbandIf you have ordered VDSL Broadband, you'll need to be at home for upto 2 hours on the date and time of the install. We'll email and text you with your scheduled date and our friendly technician will call you half an hour before their arrival. So on the install day I waited around for the AM time slot. At no time did I get a call from the technician and then the problems started.First call was shocking at the least, Call the Vodafone Ninja (AKA overseas call centre) for a script reader. They picked up the call and you heard the call centre for a minute or so with you saying Hello repeatedly until someone notices they are on a call. Telling them Chorus has not shown up you are not connected means "Im just going to do a line test" then once they realise what your saying they put down the phone for 8 minutes of call centre sounds before just hitting mute then you have dead silence............ So after 4 calls your not really feeling that Vodafone cares about anyone let alone new customers , They are emphatically saying nope your showing as connected its not a failed install when your physically at the address with all the equipment setup correctly and clearly seeing that no there is no connection. It is imposible to actually talk to a manager who is in New Zealand to voice how terrible the service is and they need to actually resolve the non connection they are billing for already I found that you need to actually have to visit a Vodafone store to talk to someone who will actually talk to you , Its also surprising that you read a callcentre comment "Customer just wanted to complain" great stuff Vodafone My Recommendation is I should have joined Voyager

So painful to get connected you regret joining

VDSL speeds
So got Vodafone VDSL, Ultra Hub has been up for around a week, but Im still only getting 3.6 Mbits down(off peak, peak times can drop to around 1 Mbits) and .6 Mbits up. I know if I ring they will say you have to let it dynamically configure itself, ie 10 days(incidentally either had a power cut or something as router is saying its only been up 5 hours!!), but surely it should be faster than the above already? Cheers

Orbi Instead of Ultrahub on FibreX
Hi,Can anyone tell me definitively if I am able to replace the Vodafone Ultrahub with a Netgear Orbi on our FibreX 200 connection?I see elsewhere a suggestion that it can be configured with the instructions at this link... https://www.pbtech.co.nz/NetgearISPSettingsAnyone with experience of this? Thanks.

ASUS RT-AC86U with FibreX
Has anyone successfully connected their ASUS RT-AC86U with FibreX? I have a static IP address, but apparently with FibreX we still have to chose the DHCP (or Automatic IP address on AC86U) option.

Bad Amazon connections through RBI (reseller)
Hey all,Trying to solve some issues I have been having with connecting to Amazon based servers. I currently have an RBI connection via Netspeed, they are part of the RBI wholesale thing. When the issue occurs I normally have a good-ish connection via 3G to Vodafone's Auckland speedtest server. Around 8-12Mb/s most of the time. That tells me that it's probably something outside of Vodafone. The issue is this, any Amazon services are extremely slow. I'm talking less than 3Mb/s most of the time. During peak times, generally from 6pm to 10-11pm it's even less, sometimes I am unable to watch Twitch streams at 360p and those are around 300-500Kbps.I have also tried a VPN to Auckland (Vocus datacenter I believe) with very similar results.Any suggestions and or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Is the Huawei B315s-607 still the only router to work with RBI?
Hi All.After a brief trial of RBI and getting 40Mbps up and down, we have signed up and are only now confronting the limitations of the Huawei B315s-607 CPE. (LAN side IP address must be within the 192.168. range, no way to add a static route).Vodafone markets this service to business and residential customers but the CPE works in only the simplest single-subnet environments. Is there still nothing better available to get around these limitations?Or is NAT required (using another box), to make our 172.16.32.0 /22 network (120+ PCs) work with RBI? Could the RBI SIM be swapped to a SIM without the TAC lock? How might a VPN help? All ideas will be welcome. Scott

Fibre still go when the powers out?
Like any self respecting geek I have ups's protecting my gear at home, mainly from voltage fluctuations but the battery backup is helpful too sometimes. I've noticed that Voda HFC goes down in a power outage presumably the gear in the cabinets uses too much power to keep going locally. We have just recently had chorus digging up the street installing fibre - does fibre internet keep going in a localised power outage ie a street or two, or is it the same as HFC in this regard? How is the network designed re power? Thanks

Vodafone to speed up cancer research?
Couldn't help but see a bit of irony in this one... https://futurefive.co.nz/story/how-vodafone-aims-speed-cancer-research/ With one in three Kiwis affected by cancer in their lifetime, Vodafone and the Vodafone Foundation have teamed up to launch an innovative app which harnesses the processing power of your smartphone to speed up cancer research. The Vodafone DreamLab app turns mobiles nationwide into a virtual supercomputer network to crunch complex genetic data speeding up the search for a cure, all while you sleep. Based on that telcos are often pointed to as cancer creators with their cell towers... surely it's on the noise to look to offer a distributed computing app..

Could Russell Stanners move to Sky?
https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/104042617/top-job-at-sky-tv-a-tempting-challengeSome quotes in this article that I thought were interesting:Stanners..."is reported as claiming he has achieved his goal of turning Vodafone into the country's "number one telco"."If their customer service is anything to go by, he has a long, long way to go.While I'm not a fan of Sky, their customer service is actually (from my experience) vastly better than Vodafone's. At least they answer the phone and their reps know what they're talking about instead of transferring your call endlessly to "the right department".Out of the frying pan into the fire indeed.

VOIP upgrade - my dealings with Vodafone
Had to share this, and while not so much annoyed, more amused by the whole process.Received the letter today from Vodafone about the move of landline to VOIP. Should clarify we have land-line, VDSL and Sky-TV.Checked the website to see if my Fritz!Box could be used or I needed to get a replacement Vodafone device. The original Vodafone modem died years ago.You need to use either a white Vodafone HG659 wireless modem or a dark grey Vodafone Ultra Hub modem. If you don't have one of these modems, call us on 0800 891 740 and we'll send one out to you.So I rang the 0800 number. First operator helpful but needed to forward me to someone else. Second operator was also helpful, but this is where the fun begins. To get the replacement modem, for the change to service that is being forced on me, I needed to sign up to a 24 month contract. Resistant to any sign contract that involves SKYTV without a significant sweetener from SKY.Operator said she could do us a better deal than we had. Went through all the options like checking our sky subscription was accurate, it was. Was then told best mates was no longer free. Ended up the first "better deal" would cost us an extra $6. Suggested if I had a Vodafone on account mobile we could save $10. Informed her that my current mobile is Spark as it is frequently used in an area that has poor/no Vodafone coverage.Said she could probably do a better deal and put me on hold. End result was $40 improvement which I said I would need to think about.Personally, I'd rather not of even been told about the $40 saving, just wanted no contract and a modem! I get why they want me to sign up to the contract. I could jump ship and take their modem with me. I have only been with Vodafone for the last 8 years in this house and 10 years in the previous house.Job before the end of the week is to find someone else to provide our VDSL and tell Sky we are cancelling. This has been the push I have needed say good-bye to a land-line. Thanks Vodafone.

Fibre Max availability in Halswell Christchurch
Hey all, I'm in the process of moving to a new build in a new subdivision in Halswell Christchurch and was hoping to stick with Vodafone for my ISP as I have been on their cable network for a long time now and have had a relatively good time with them. The new place isn't in part of the cable network so I'll need to move over to Fibre which I have no issue with. However when I put through my moving house request asking for Fibre Max (available on the online tool, but I know they are not 100% accurate) I was informed that vodafone don't offer Fibre Max outside of Dunedin and the best I could get is the Fibre 200 plan. Is this true? It sounded a bit weird to me so I've put my request on hold in case I need to shop around for a different ISP and I was hoping someone on here might be able to shed some light on it.

Vodafone and iMessage will not activate with number
Hey all, I have had no luck getting my phone number to activate with iMessage, My email is fine and works via email.I called VF last night because I had 47 international texts on my bill, wondering why they were there. After a few moments I clicked and suspected iMessage. I explained it wasn't activating and the dual skilled agent wanted to assist me. We tried many things (At my expense turning it off and on so I'll be charged further) to have no luck. She went to call Apple support and after 5 mins of hold the line cut, Got the triple beep. Didn't get called back. I queried if they could reimburse the imessage text charges as a good will but was declined.I have a 7+, All date/time/zone is all correct.Any help is appreciated. Cheers

Vodafone TV - Recording Limitations
Hey team, I couldn't find an answer in any of the existing threads but if it has been answered, sorry.
Anyway, Vodafone got a hold of me to try and get me to change from our current Mysky setup to their fancy Vodafone TV and I am slightly worried about the recording options, obviously Mysky let's you record and watch anything and save it forever if you like, but when I try and find what options Vodafone TV offer most channels note that the ability to record or not is programme specific.
Does anyone have an understanding of what shows are off limits etc, I understand that TVNZ 1 & 2 and Three are all on demand so that makes sense but I'm more interested in what Limitations the Sky channels have.
Any help?
Also any overall feedback when comparing it to MySky?
Thanks Heaps!

Miscalculation or false advertising???
Usually don't go public with issues but a month a go a smooth talking salesman got me to change my Vodafone broadband and phone plan to the latest offering...instantly regretted it as I figured I wasn't saving all that he said I was and felt duped but trying to contact the retention team was a nightmare so I just resigned myself to the fact that I'd ride it out, hoping that I wouldn't experience billing issues like others I know have....guess I was wrong.Soo on the 1st May I got an email saying my new plan I agreed to would be $144.90/mth.Checked the invoice today, $174.90, phoned the 0800 number and got a person on the end of the phone who had no idea how to help. I decided to cancel the talk plan I had on there....still doesn't drop it to the agreed price....I shouldn't have had to do that any way as the salesman said the voice plan was free and included in the price. He also didn't mention the saving were for only 12mths.Who do you contact to have a conversation about this that actually can see I haven't received the price I was advised a month ago?

Moving to Vodafone Fiber, how to avoid any downtime?
So I've decided to move to Vodafone either to the 12 month contract or 24 month. Issue is that my contract with existing ISP expires 14th June and that's also the date they will charge my credit card for another month till 14th July. Now what's the best way to avoid that charge as I am not sure if they will refund in case I move mid month and also avoid any downtime? And is 12 month contract better or 24 month with VF's current offer. 24 month I believe give an extra $10 off per month.

Vodafone Online sign-up doesn't work
I see that there are Vodafone staff that are quite active around here and thought of posting an issue (as the FB message I sent haven't been attended to). I've been trying to sign-up online and have had this error every time for the past week. I didn't think i'll have this much of a difficult time trying to sign up. if this is the experience to even sign-up, i'm very wary on what the customer experience would be when i'm actually signed-up. PS: i've tried multiple browsers and still the same issue.
